Travian NPC Trading Explained: Stop Warehouse and Granary Overflow
What Travian NPC trading is, when to use it, how to avoid wasting gold, and how to automate NPC exchange so your granary never silently overflows.
Overflow: A Silent Resource Loss
As your production grows in Travian, a problem appears: storage capacity cannot keep up. Especially at night, or when you stay offline for a long time, a full resource keeps being produced but the surplus is thrown away.
It is easy to miss and very real. A storage that overflows for two hours every night for a week adds up to thousands of wasted resources.
What Is NPC Trading in Travian?
NPC trading is the "Exchange resources" feature at the Marketplace. It converts a surplus resource into the resource you need, instantly and for gold, without waiting for another player's offer.
For example: your warehouse is full of wood but crop is low. NPC trading turns the excess wood into crop right away.
When to Use NPC Trading
Why Doing It Manually Is Hard
You cannot predict exactly when storage fills, and you cannot be online at that moment. Production does not stop while you sleep, work or travel.
That is why automating NPC trading makes a real difference: the system watches your storage fill level and rebalances automatically when it reaches the threshold you set (for example 90%).
Automatic NPC Trading in Pilot Trav
You choose a few settings in the panel:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Threshold percentage | At what granary fill level to trigger (for example 90%) |
| Target distribution | In what ratio the resources are rebalanced |
| Gold check | If you do not have enough gold, the exchange is skipped without errors |
When the threshold is reached, the bot opens the Marketplace, performs the exchange and carries on — without you doing anything.
Good to know: auto NPC is a per-village setting, so turn it on in each village where you want it. It only triggers once the granary reaches your threshold, so if you never see an exchange, check that the fill level is actually that high.
Watch Your Gold
NPC trading costs gold. Setting the threshold too low (for example 50%) triggers it too often and burns gold. For most accounts a threshold of 85–90% is a good balance: it prevents overflow without wasting gold.
Conclusion
NPC trading looks like a small feature, but automated it prevents serious production loss over a few weeks. Instead of trying to watch it yourself, let the bot do it. See the Travian bot overview for the full list of modules, or start the 7-day free trial.
