Best Troops to Train in Travian Legends: Tribe-by-Tribe Guide

Which troops to train as Romans, Teutons and Gauls in Travian Legends, why manual training wastes hours, and how to keep your Barracks and Stable filled automatically.

Why Troop Training Matters in Travian

In Travian Legends, power is troops. An empty Barracks is time you hand to your rivals. An active player checks the Barracks every half hour or so — but nobody can do that around the clock. That is why automated training has become a staple for competitive players.

Which Troops to Train

Every tribe has its strengths. Here are the standouts for the three classic tribes.

Romans

▸Offense: Legionnaire, Imperian and Equites Caesaris
▸Defense: Praetorian — one of the best infantry defenders
▸Cavalry: Equites Imperatoris

Teutons

▸Offense: Axeman — an excellent early-game attacker
▸Defense: Spearman and Paladin
▸Raiding: Clubswinger — very cheap and quick to produce

Gauls

▸Defense: Phalanx — the cheapest defensive unit
▸Cavalry: Theutates Thunder — a fast, popular raiding cavalry
▸Passive defense: traps built by the Trapper

The game has more tribes (Egyptians, Huns, Vikings, Spartans) with their own unit lists; Pilot Trav supports all seven tribes with unit names taken from the real game data.

The Problem With Manual Training

▸At night: the queue empties, resources pile up, hours are lost.
▸During work or school: you start the day with a single unit left in the Barracks.
▸On holiday: one week away is one week of lost production.
▸Forgetfulness: refilling the queue is easy to forget.

Eight hours of sleep plus eight hours of work or school is sixteen hours of potential production lost every day.

How Automatic Troop Training Works

In Pilot Trav's troop training automation you choose:

1. Building and unit: Barracks, Stable or Workshop, and which unit to train there.

2. Amount: a minimum and maximum per training round (for example 10 to 20).

3. Repeat interval: how often the bot checks (for example every 1800–3600 seconds).

4. Resource behaviour: wait until you can afford the minimum, or train smaller batches when resources are low.

If the bot sees at 3 a.m. that the Barracks is empty, it queues the next batch immediately. The unit is targeted by the game's own fixed unit ID, so locked or favourite-marked units can never shift the order and make the bot train the wrong troop.

Why Randomised Intervals Matter

A bot that checks at exactly the same interval every time creates a pattern. Pilot Trav waits a random time between your minimum and maximum. With a range of 1800–3600 seconds the bot sometimes waits 22 minutes, sometimes 47 — much closer to how a person actually plays.

Watch Your Crop Balance

The most common mistake when automating training is ignoring crop. Every unit consumes crop every hour; if production drops below consumption, your troops starve.

1. Calculate your crop production.

2. Add up the consumption of the troops you plan to train.

3. If the difference is positive, you are safe to continue.

Great Barracks and Great Stable

With a second village you can build the Great Barracks and Great Stable for much faster training. Pilot Trav keeps those filled automatically too.
