Travian Troop Training Automation Explained
How the automated training queue decides what to train and when, including the low-resource training mode for keeping barracks busy without starving your building queue.
An empty barracks queue is wasted capacity, same as an idle building slot — the difference is training is easy to forget about because it doesn't show up on your village overview the same way.
How Automated Training Works
You set which unit to train and in what batch size per building (Barracks, Stable, Workshop), and the bot queues more whenever that building's queue runs low — checked on the same cycle as everything else, so it doesn't need a separate schedule.
Low-Resource Training Mode
There's a specific mode worth knowing about: when resources are otherwise sitting idle (for example between building upgrades, or when storage is near cap with nothing queued), the bot can switch to training with whatever's available rather than letting resources sit unused. This is opt-in, not the default behavior — if you'd rather bank resources for a specific building goal, leave it off.
Training vs. Building: They Don't Compete by Default
A common worry is that auto-training will eat the resources you wanted for a building upgrade. By default it won't — building priorities and troop training are separate settings, and training only steps in when configured to use *excess* capacity, not resources the building queue is actively waiting on. If you want strict building-first behavior, keep low-resource training mode off and set training batch sizes conservatively.
A Simple Setup
| Goal | Setting |
|---|---|
| Steady defensive garrison | Small, continuous batches in your defensive building (Stable/Barracks depending on tribe) |
| Don't starve building queue | Leave low-resource mode off, set modest batch sizes |
| Maximize idle resource use | Turn on low-resource training mode once your building priorities are stable |
Pair this with the building queue guide if you haven't set building priorities yet — training automation is most useful once the rest of the village is already running itself.
