Travian Building Order: Best Build Order for Raiders and Defenders

Which resource fields and village buildings to upgrade first in Travian Legends — optimized build orders for attackers and defenders, common mistakes, and how to automate it.

Why Your Travian Building Order Matters

In Travian Legends, resource production decides almost everything: troops, expansion, even how quickly you recover from an attack. A good Travian build order gets you ahead of rivals in production speed. A bad one wastes thousands of resources on buildings that could have waited.

This guide gives you a sensible build order for the first hours, then specific orders for raiders (offense) and defenders.

The First Hour: Resource Fields First

At the start of the game, resource fields come before village buildings. Recommended order:

1. Bring every resource field to level 1.

2. Take crop fields to level 2 — every troop eats crop, so crop is the early bottleneck.

3. Bring the other resource fields to level 2.

4. Upgrade the Main Building to level 3 so construction speeds up.

5. Expand the Warehouse and Granary before they fill.

6. Push resource fields to level 3–4.

Why crop first? Troops consume crop continuously. If your crop production cannot keep up, you cannot train an army — and if your balance goes negative, units starve.

Build Order for Raiders (Offense)

Raiders need speed: start farming as early as possible.

1. Resource fields to level 3–4.

2. Barracks level 1 (Gauls also benefit from an early Stable).

3. Marketplace level 1.

4. Resource fields to level 5–6.

5. Barracks level 5 for faster training.

6. Academy, then Smithy for research and upgrades.

7. Resource fields to level 7–8.

Tip: for a raider, training speed beats almost everything else. Upgrade the Barracks as early as you can afford to.

Build Order for Defenders

Defenders prioritise protection and strong production.

1. Resource fields to level 4–5.

2. Your tribe's wall (City Wall, Earth Wall or Palisade) to level 3.

3. Warehouse and Granary expansion.

4. Barracks and Stable for defensive units.

5. Cranny, and Trapper if you play Gauls.

6. Resource fields to level 7–8.

7. Main Building to level 10.

8. Palace or Residence if you plan a second village.

Stop Losing Hours: Automate the Build Queue

Following a build order by hand is tiring. You fall asleep, wake up, and the queue has been empty for hours — resources piled up, time gone. That is the problem a Travian builder solves: you define the order once and the bot works through it.

With Pilot Trav's Travian building bot you enter your build queue once. The bot then starts the next construction at night, on weekends and on holiday, waits when resources are short and starts the moment they are enough. For the full walkthrough, see our guide to Travian building queue automation.

Common Mistakes

1. Neglecting storage. When the warehouse or granary is full, production is wasted. Upgrade storage before big constructions.

2. Opening crop production too late. Check your crop balance before you start training troops.

3. Upgrading the Main Building too late. Every Main Building level shortens construction time for everything after it.

4. Doing everything at once. Focus: resource production first, then troop capacity, then the rest.
