Travian Troop Costs and Crop Upkeep by Tribe: Full Comparison Table (Legends)
Travian troop costs and crop upkeep by tribe, including full resource, carry-capacity and upkeep comparison tables.
What are Travian troop costs and crop upkeep by tribe?
Travian troop costs and crop upkeep determine whether an army is affordable to train and sustainable to keep. We compare the four training resources, total cost, hourly crop upkeep and carry capacity below. Use the values as a base reference, then plan around your current production, granary balance and server situation.
What does every unit cost to train?
These are base values for Travian: Legends units. Actual travel time depends on server speed plus hero and Tournament Square bonuses. Pilot Trav uses public static unit tables from kirilloid, cross-checked against live server pages.
Costs are wood/clay/iron/crop. Carry per upkeep is a derived value: carry capacity divided by crop upkeep. A zero carry value is shown for units that do not carry resources.

Which early offensive units cost least per attack point?
The following observations are derived from the table by dividing total resource cost by attack, while excluding units with zero attack. Among each tribe's first eight combat units, the lowest cost per attack point is Imperian for Romans, Clubswinger for Teutons, Swordsman for Gauls, Khopesh Warrior for Egyptians, Steppe Rider for Huns, Hoplite for Spartans, and Thrall for Vikings.
Training time, buildings, research, speed and the resources your village actually produces still decide whether the result fits your plan.
Which raiders carry most for each crop upkeep?
Derived from carry divided by upkeep, the strongest listed carry-per-upkeep options are Legionnaire for Romans, Clubswinger for Teutons, Swordsman for Gauls, Ash Warden for Egyptians, Marksman for Huns, Hoplite for Spartans, and a tie between Thrall and Huskarl Rider for Vikings. These values explain why a cheap unit can remain useful for resource collection even when it is not the fastest or strongest attacker.
Capacity matters only when the target has resources and the send survives.
Why does crop upkeep limit farming armies?
Every listed upkeep point is crop consumed per hour, so an army can turn a comfortable granary negative as it grows. Farming brings resources but does not remove ongoing crop cost.
If crop goes negative, reduce or pause the queue, review what is away from home, and restore a workable balance before expanding the army. Our Travian crop management guide covers the operational checks, while the best troops by tribe guide adds role-based context.
How should we budget a training queue?
Start with the four-resource cost of the exact unit, not a generic total. A village short on iron can be unable to sustain an apparently cheap queue.
An automated queue needs limits. Pilot Trav's building bot can organize a queue, and the second-village guide shows why priorities change during expansion. No automation tool is risk-free.
When should we prefer a cheaper unit?
Prefer the cheaper option when it serves the job and keeps the village's limiting resource healthy. Do not turn a table ranking into a universal build order.
See the Travian bot overview and security page before enabling automation. The best queue is one you can feed and monitor.
FAQ
Is total resource cost more important than crop upkeep?
Total cost is needed to train a unit now; crop upkeep is consumed every hour afterwards. A queue is sustainable only when both the training cost and ongoing crop balance work.
Why do siege units show zero carry capacity?
Their listed capacity is zero. They have specialized military roles, so do not choose them as resource haulers. Compare the whole row before adding a unit to a farming composition.
Can farming solve a negative crop balance?
Farming brings resources but does not eliminate crop consumption. Treat a negative balance as a production and army-size issue; pause growth, improve the balance, then resume training.
